These are the growth
charts based on breastfed babies, from
birth until 2 years, issued by the WHO
(World Health Organization).
The charts are a guide
only. All babies are different. They all
follow a different pattern, and will not
necessarily stay on the same percentile
that they were born on. All weights
recorded are normal for the ages shown.
So if your baby is right at the bottom of
the chart, or right at the top, it does
not mean they are too big or too small.
Most babies do not follow the 50th
percentile.
What Do The
Percentiles Mean?
Let's take the 50th
percentile. The weight on the 50th
percentile, means that of all the babies
that were used for the chart, 50% weighed
more than this, and 50% weighed less.
For the 3rd percentile,
the weight at the ages shown, 3 % weighed
below that weight 97% weighed above that
weight.
For the 15th percentile, 15% weighed
below that weight, and 85% above that
weight.
For the 85th percentile, 85% weighed
below that weight, 15% weighed above that
weight.
For the 97th percentile, 97% weighed
below that weight, 3% weighed above that
weight.
All weights are normal.
There may only be concern if your baby
continually has no weight gain or loses a
lot of weight (apart from the first 2
weeks of your baby's life, when a degree
of weight loss is normal)
There are 2 charts. One
for boys and one for girls. Click on the
